Coach Prendiville can be very happy with his charges as they gave National League club Sligo a scare by nearly taking a win at home on Sunday. This age group is thriving at the minute with nearly 30 players vying for a squad number for match day. They seem to have all the ingredients with height, tenacity good ball skill and eager to win too. But Sligo had one or two players with a bit more experience which just edged the game for them. Great to see a good crowd in the gym to support the u12s and we would ask all our players to come and support the other teams when they can. We had the brighter start and created a lot of early chances but with some more practice around the basket will take these chances in the future. Still our lads lead 11-4 at the end of the first but Sligo came out with a strong second quarter 5 to take the half time lead 16-17. The second half was again a close affair but All Stars took a small lead which they held to the end. Our lads never dropped the heads and rallied right to the end of a cracking match. Well done to both teams and a win isn't too far away for these lads. MVP was Niall Prendiville who had a terrific game.
