DTBC played well against a good All Stars team but all agreed defense needs some work plus the fact we missed a lot. MVP was Ben mcNeely playing his first ever game but was very good.

Our U19 girls made the trip to All Stars last Sunday and came away with a great win in their first outing of the season. In what was a close game throughout DTBC had the better of the opening quarter just, as Sophie Carr scored our first 2 baskets with great drives followed up by scores from Center Orla Carbery and the heartbeat of the DTBC team Meabh Dorrian but Sligo kept in touch . Nice scores from Aoibhe Timoney and Sophie Carr gave our girls a 14-10 first quarter lead. Orla Carbery's influence around the boards cant be understated as she added the first score of the 2nd along with a great score from Dorrian. Youngster Nadine Mc Geoghan announced her arrival at this level with a fantastic input hitting the next 5 points and along with Courtney Harron gave us a great fast attack and no doubt the girls will finish more of the chances they created as the season progresses. Carr added another fantastic 6 points while Carbery nailed 2 nice free throws to just win 17-15 and 6 point lead at half time.
The 3rd quarter was the closest with both teams knowing a run here would give them a good chance of winning as All Stars pressed high up the court Mc Geoghans pace was giving DTBC a great outlet from the pressure while Carr, Carbery and Captain Furey would all hit 4pts each for a drawn quarter at 13 each.
DTBC were now starting to manage the lead and the game better picking off some nice fast break scores and then managing to slow the game down with Sophie Carr scoring a lovely 3 from way out. Deservedly Sheena Doherty got herself on the scoresheet which she richly deserved as her work rate was fantastic. Further nice scores from Aoibhe Timoney and Lucy Clinton got us over the line winning the quarter 19-15 and a 10 point overall win. This was great game with 2 evenly matched sides and a win our girls can be really happy with playing some nice basketball. Nadine Mc Geoghan and Catherine Campbell were excellent playing up at this level for the first time and have great futures. Great to have Anna Campbell and Chelsei Bennett back into the fold and no doubt they will great additions as they get sharper. The win can be attributed to a great panel effort with Sophie Carr's 23 points and controlling the pace of the game late on a big factor in the win. Sheena Doherty and Orla Carberys rebounding and inside play provided a lot of ball and go forward along with the fabulous work rate of Meabh Dorrian who got through a mountain of work as usual for her team. Captain Andrea Furey who despite being sick put in a great performance too. Team; Andrea Furey (c) 3, Sophie Carr 23, Orla Carbery 16, Meabh Dorrian 8, Aoibhe Timoney 4, Courtney Harron, Catherine Campbell, Sheena Dohery 2, Chelsei Bennett, Anna Campbell, Nadine Mc Geoghan 7, Lucy Clinton, Natasha Prendiville.
